Up for sale is this great Antique 19thC. A. Mathieson & Son England 5/8" Side Boxwood Bead Molding Plane Inv#CR35
This 19th Century A. Mathieson & Son English side boxwood bead moulding plane that is nice & clean and ready to go... It has the Mfg name marked on toe A. Mathieson & Son England Glascow & Edinburch, Warranted and the owner name: Wm Mundell. On heel it has the number 5/8" and owner name again. This plan...e is in pristine condition (see photos). The plane measure approx: 9-3/8" L x 1-5/8" W. The wedge is original and in perfect condition. The cutter is frozen and I could not remove the wedge or cutter. I will leave that up to you the expert!! I might have some pitting and rust, but I cannot see it completely. I always suggest a good honing. It measures approx: 7" L x 7/8" W. Plane has great feel and patina..bead and sole look good. Overall I would give this one a ++++ rating (see all photos) This plane has a beautiful profile and nice patina and the wedge is original. It would be a good addition to your tool collection or workshop! This was plucked out of a carpenters workshop this week along with many other great woodworking tools that I am currently listing.
