Rare! Vintage Original 1950s Ohlsson & Rice Midget Tether Race Car. Original Ohlsson & Rice Midget tethered racing car, circa early-1950s. Manufactured by Ohlsson & Rice, Inc. Designed originally as a scale model of a Lujie Lesovsky-built Offenhauser powered midget which won numerous races during the 1948 season at the famed Gilmore Stadium track. The O&R Midget racer is arguably the most realistic appearing tether... car of the post-war era. The paint and decals are original and are in excellent condition for their age, just some minor chips and scratches. And this car is powered by the original .049 engine as last raced. The .049 engine is rare and getting very hard to find. This O&R is not a direct drive system so the rear wheels spin freely till the engine is started, once the engine starts the unique clutch drive system will engage sending power to the rear wheels. This tether car is still in it's natural unrestored, as raced original condition. All four rubber tires are good, no missing chunks of rubber, steel solid center wheels at all four corners, original steering wheel, hand fuel pump, exhaust pipe and brake lever are all still intact. This is a large race car, it measures 10" in length. Very nice overall condition. Please look at the 12 attached photos and bid accordingly, ask any questions you may have, sold as is. PLEASE NOTE: Many states have jumped on the Internet Sales Tax bandwagon as of October 1st and Ebay now collects taxes for those states. I have nothing to do with those taxes, they are paid by Ebay but charged to you, I do not collect the tax money. Check the list on Ebay of the states that this applies to, call your Congressman to complain, I have no control over it.
