Rare Vintage Hopi/ Cochiti Pueblo Sterling Silver Ketoh Bracelet W/ Provenance
Item History & Price
This rare Hopi/ Cochiti Pueblo sterling silver and turquoise ketoh (wrist guard/ bracelet) of classic Hopi overlay design has a very good single stone with a nicely cutout bezel. The rolling-wave motif intersected with rays of sunlight create a dramatic and yet simple statement.
This piece was owned by Fernando (Fred) Cordero, noted drum... maker, four-time Cochiti Pueblo Governor, and husband of acclaimed "storyteller" potter, Helen Cordero. A tag noting this history was attached by old-time trader Dick Hewlet and the ketoh was in his collection. The piece was probably made in the 1950's-60's.
