Very rare GERMANSCOPE SNIPER CARL ZEISS JENA Zielacht. Manufacture number 2313 makes it likely this is pre-war manufacture. The Carl Zeiss Zielacht is said to have been used on German K98 or Gew98 Sniper Rifle Scope World War II. Optics are clear but there is a small ding on the eyepiece(see pictures). Supposedly the Zielacht 8X scopes were not used as often as the 4 and 6power scopes. People have claimed these were 1) mostly used in the far north where th...e open expanses and low light conditions made them a better choice because of the large objective lens ability to gather light and the longer distances to targets and 2) used by Gebirgsjager, mountain troops, who often had greater distances to the enemy as in mountainous terrain, only the high points were usually occupied, meaning along shot across a mountain valley and low light conditions. Overall condition of the scope is good, but two issues should be noted: 1) The pin that controls the adjust wheel has broken off and will need replacement and 2) there is a small ding in the eyepiece which does not affect use. Optics are clear – see pictures. Scope body is magnetic steel, approximate measurements are: length: 37cm(14.5 in), tube diameter: 26.5mm, magnification: 8x, Objective Diameter: 56mm, eyepiece tube diameter:38.5 mm.
