RARE PLANT COLLECTOR PLANT CARE GUIDE
LIGHTING: Medium indirect lighting, out of direct sun. For example, a few feet away from an East facing window would be ideal!
WATERING: Water very infrequently with reverse osmosis or filtered water, only when you feel the top half of the soil mixture is very dry. This can change depending on conditions, however most plants prefer to be on the drier side.
HUMIDITY: We recommend to maintain humidity at 55%-60% minimum. These are tropical plants, and will thrive at these levels. A humidity gauge is highly recommended.
SOIL: We recommend a very airy, chunky well draining aroid mix
POTTING: Once your plant is ready to be potted, plant in dry soil in an appropriately sized terra cotta pot. Only compress the soil slighly enough to hold the plant up, try not to over compact the mixture. Depending on the size of the root system, you will typically not want more than an inch from the edge of the rootball to the side of the pot. If there is an exposed node, try to keep it out of the mixture by propping up against a plant stake, while ensuring the roots are comfortably covered. After 24 hours, lightly water the plant with no more than a half cup of filtered water evenly over the top of the soil, and wait until it is almost dry to repeat.
SHIPPING AFTERCARE: It is normal for a plant to experience stress during shipment. A box with very little air circulation, warmth, humidity and no light is the perfect environment for bacteria to grow. Some browning of leaves (especially on the white part of the variegation) is not uncommon. Plants will redirect their energy when they are stressed, and we at Rare Plant Collector Shop do all we can to mitigate this.
