Here we have a WW2 Royal Air Force 6B/159 navigation watch, made by Longines of Switzerland as their refererence 4830, for parts or restoration. The beautiful, gilt, manual wind Cal. 12.68N movement dates to 1943, according to Longines' records. It winds, sets, and runs but is in need of a service. The movement is contained in a zinc alloy case with stainless steel snap back and front bezel. The alloy midcase shows much wear, and is missing most of its original chrome plating. The dial... is believed to have been refinished by the British military while the watch was still in service (a "MOD dial") and, interestingly, is mistakenly marked "Leonidas" instead of Longines. The watch measures 32mm in diameter, not including crown or fixed lugs. Because of its condition, it is being sold for spares or repair.
