Original Description:
An incredible early 20th Century, (although the style could be late 19th century) rollup sampler by DOROTHY De VOY worked at St.Thomas Girl School, Portman Square June 1905.The sampler contains 15 squares of work including white work and darning sampler and measures a total of 3m 33cm long and 20 cm wide.
More work needs to be done in this girl, we have found out only a little but with such an unusual name she must have been someone. Born in 1895 in Limington Spar in Warwickshi...re , she went onto work as a Female sorter for the M.O.D. as a civil servant, gaining a recommendation in 1908 !.. In the 1911 Census she was living at No 2 Cambridge Villars with her uncle Albert Harry Howe the artist and designer at the Fine Art College in Paddington.
