Vintage Movado Ladies Wristwatch Cal. 105 Gold Capped 1950s
Item History & Price
The watch has the Movado 105 calibre movement which was introduced in 1910 and was until approx. 1950.
I'd think this watch is from the late , 40s very early , 50s from the case style.
The watch appears to be in overall good condition and at the time of writing is running strongly and keeping time, although please note I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the piece as it is a vintage watch and one wouldn't expect i...t to be as precise after all these years as that of a modern and new timekeeper. The movement is clean, undamaged and corrosion free.
The two tone dial has slightly stained, yellowed and discoloured with age but is still perfectly serviceable and presentable with no flaking or cracks It features the Movado branding upper centre with 'Sport' lower centre and 'Switzerland' visible on the very lower edge of the dial. The gold finished hour and minute and red tipped second hand are the originals.
The gold capped screw back stainless case is by Francois Borgel a major supplier to Movado at this period, as well as the usual Borgel style screw back it also features an inner dust shile for the movement. It is good condition with just minor scratches etc, there is no other damage and no corrosion, I've tried to show this in the photos, the case back has a few scratches where it has been removed in the past for repair/servicing and there are some engraved initials in script too on the case back. The strap lugs are fine with no damage, elongating or ovalling of the strap bar fixings. The diameter of the case excluding the crown is just over 24mm, the case takes a 12mm width strap.Inside the case back there is the Movado logo and the watch's serial numbers, 14278 / 13308 the second number indicating here that the watch has a 105 movement and the case is indeed stainless steel. The watch features it's original Movado style winding crown. The crystal although presentable has minor scuffs and scratches showing.
Please do examine the pictures carefully as they form part of the description and message if you have any questions or require any further info.
Many thanks for your time and for looking.
