This signed photo forms part of a limited edition of Iron Crosses of the Luftwaffe signed Photograph Series. This is number 02 in the series of 25 Photographs so far issued, produced by ourselves. Each photograph has been handsigned and they are all numbered and certified on the reverse. Each photograph is a limited edition of 210. Trained as a fighter pilot, Buchner’s first combat role was in ground attack flying the Me 109 in early 1942 with 8./SG 1. After 215 missions he became a test pilot, but was badly injured when his Me 109 exploded at 22, 000ft. Returning to action in 1943 with SG 2 he flew a further 200 missions in FW 190s before being wounded again. After returning to action and completing a further 500 ground attack missions he joined the ‘Nowotny’ Me 262 unit on the 1 November 1944 and is accredited the first victory in a jet aircraft. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross on the 20 July 1944 having achieved 46 victories and completing 600 missions. Total of 58 victories, 45 in the East, 12 with the Me 262, and also 48 tanks and numerous trucks. Total of 631 missions. We usually have lots of other items up for sale so why not have a look
