The military once issued these to chaplains who then issued them to soldiers who requested them. The solid metal rosaries were not only strong but made little noise in the trenches when being prayed upon.
The center medal features an image of Our Mother of Sorrows, backside depicts Jesus bearing his cross.
This particular piece has the original military issued crucifix - which many today have been replaced over time. They only manufactured these one time and all of them had the same center medal and this particular crucifix.
No breaks to the rosary. Beautiful condition for it's age. Original patina
