The frame has a finial at the top and on either side of the crossbar, the gilded metal has an all over design and a rococo style base. The upright is designed to lift off ...the base, has a thicker lower section to hold which unscrews from a finer upper half and crossbar. The crossbar is complete with 6 hanging rings and holds the original screen. Its in good condition with only some age related wear to the gilding, especially on the foot.
The screen has a red needlework background with a floral design and all round fringing in tiny glass coloured beads. Its been relined at some time in its history with a lemon material. The needlework is largely intact, one flower has lost a petal and there is a knot in one of the fringes. But like most textiles which have been on display for 150 years, its fairly delicate, with age weakened threads which would need to be handled with care.
It measures approx 53cm high (21"). The screen is approx 19cm x 23cm including fringe.
