Rare and original, 1916 Typed Letter Signed by Theodore Roosevelt Jr. - eldest son of President Theodore Roosevelt, Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, Assistant Secretary of the Navy (1921–1924), Governor of Puerto Rico (1929–1932), and Governor-General of the Philippines.
This original, hand signed Letter measures approx. 8 1/2” by 11” and is written on the Stationary of Montgomery, Clothier & Tyler – a Wall Street brokerage firm where Roose...velt worked. The letter is dated January 10, 1916 and addressed to “Henry H. Curran” - the Chairman of the New York City Board of Alderman.
The Letter is written entirely on one side of a single page stationary with printed heading at the top that reads " Montgomery, Clothier & Tyler / 14 Wall Street / New York". The signature of Theodore Roosevelt Jr. is dark and bold.
The full text of the Letter reads as follows:
”Dear Mr. Curran:-
Thank you so much for your letter of recent date. I will be glad to write directly to Mr. Merle-Smith in the future.
With best regards, I am
Yours very truly,
(signed) Theodore Roosevelt”
This original, Theodore Roosevelt Jr. Typed Letter Signed is in very good condition with creases as sent through the mail, some small spots of light staining and a small hole at the upper left hand corner.
