DIVINE ANTIQUE FRENCH EMBROIDERED LINEN TABLECLOTH CROWNS OF A COUNTESS c1890
This is a magnificent antique French hand embroidered and Richelieu linen tablecloth from the late 1800s that carries a heraldic couronne crown of a Count or Countess. An amazing cloth in superb condition that was hand worked by a very accomplished hand. The linen is soft old white and the embroidery catches the light perfectly as the thread is very sightly wh...iter. Each corner has a beautiful Richelieu work display of roses with curls and embroidered flowers. The centre has a decorative drawn thread work border and the monogram letter B and the crown sit in one corner. The monogram is embellished with tiny dots and the couronne crown sits above. The measurements are: 138cms x 135cms There is no damage or wear and I can see just one very pale small mark from storage that should remove with a launder.( see last pic) An amazing confection with an aristocratic connection. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions!
