Thisspecimen has plenty of surviving anatomical structure to enable a goodidentification. Zoom in on the polished face photo and notice the large sizeof both the individual vessels (over 200 microns in diameter) and the rays (upto 10 cells... wide). It comes out of Miocene volcanic deposits in theGreat Basin Desert of Nevada. If you seek the unusual - you just foundit! It measures 1.5" x 1" on the polished face and it is a 4.5" long limb cast.We specialize in petrified wood and plant fossils which are accurately identified as to locality of origin and family, genus or species.
