This method is totally devastating for ammonite and pyrite. I know because I used this bad way in the past. Sooner or later, a complete disintegration occurs and also loses quality and strength.Polished ammonite lasts much longer. The protective layer must also be used for pyrite ammonite. If not, the pyrite fossil begins to undergo oxidation and leads to devastation. For polished ammonite, I also use a special pyrite preparation.Some people think polishing and painting with a colorless varnish is the wrong way - and they are wrong.
