This lamp measures about 17 inches with globe..About 11 inches without globe, , , The base where it looks to be repaired is removable, if you were to replace it.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt ( January 30 , 1882 - April 12 , 1945 ), often referred to by his initials FDR, was the 32nd President of the United States .
Elected to four terms in office, he served from 1933 to 1945,
and is the only U.S. president to have served more than two terms. A central figure of the 2...0th century during a time of worldwide economic crisis and world war,
he has consistently been ranked as one of the three greatest U.S. presidents in scholarly surveys .
This beautiful lamp shows FDR standing with both hands firmly grasping the steering wheel of a ship,
with the American eagle emblem in the center.
He really did steer the ship, for longer than anyone else!This lamp was manufactured by the Gibraltar Electric Clock Company of Jersey City , New Jersey , a company noted for its zinc "slush cast" clock cases and lamp bases.
This company connected to numerous other companies produced lamps and clocks from the late 19th century until the middle of the 20th.In its latter years it produced carnival ware for side show games.
The art work on this lamp and that of other Gibraltar lamps and clocks is very appealing to buyers of today since the art is so very representational of what buyers today call retro charm.
This a vintage 1930-40's Franklin D. Roosevelt lamp, it is in working condition, it looks like the Base that holds globe has been replaced and newer cord was replaced at some time also. Externally the lamp is in excellent shape, an attractive coppery color with some nice patina and will be a beautiful display piece for the lamp or political memorabilia collector. (see photos)
