Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:3245364 | ANTIQUE 1863 ROYAL WEDDING CUP & SAUCER: TO COMMEMORATE ROYAL WEDDING OF PRINCE OF WALES |
This is an 1863 antique royal wedding black and white transfer printed cup and saucer - the cup stands 3 3/4 inches high and the saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter. This cup and saucer was made to commemorate the wedding of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) to Princess Alexandra of Denmark on 10th March 1863 at St. George's Chapel Windsor. The front of the cup is decorated with a head and shoulders portrait of ...the Prince of Wales surrounded with a garland of roses and thistles together with the Prince of Wales Feathers below. The back of the cup and also the saucer have portraits of Princess Alexandra. The condition of both cup and saucer is good with no chips, cracks, damage or restoration and the black and white transfers are still bright and crisp. For accuracy in my description I will point out that there is some light staining and a roughness to the glaze on the saucer but nothing too serious or detracts in any way. Please excuse any photo flashes or reflections. This antique cup and saucer, made to commemorate the 1863 Royal Wedding of the Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra, would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.
