Rare Uruk period Eye IdolA flat limestone figurine with a bell-shaped body, a cylindrical neck off-set by a V, with two large eyes and single brow incised. Reverse flat, unmodelled.Height 3.8 cms (1.5 ins).Condition: Fine. Middle Uruk period: Circa 3700–3500 BC.

This type of figurine known as an eye idol, made of stone and having incised eyes, has been excavated at Tell Brak in ancient northern Mesopotamia, now Syria, where thousands were found in a building now called the Eye Temple. They were probably dedicated there as offerings.
