Rare Victorian Taxidermy Tiger Toy This incredibly life-like miniature tiger! He has real fur/ skin hand dyed in a fitting pattern stretched over an uncertain form, probably wood. Well stitched under the body and inside the legs - out of view unless you turn him over. He has handmade extremities made of wood and paper mache. I believe he has glass eyes. He has a very handsome face. The attention to detail is amazing. This is a truly wonderful collectors toy and quite rare. These were sold as souvenirs at the zoos. They were very expensive in their time. During the Victorian era, people were fascinated by nature, plants, animals, insects, etc, and taxidermy was in fashion. These handmade children’s curios were highly prized.
