VINTAGE BERKELEY PRIVATEER SUPER 15 BALSA WOOD R/C MODEL AIRPLANE KIT . Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. A beautiful amphibious flying boat by none other than Don McGovern. This .15 powered model is the middle between the 1/2A Privateer and the giant ten foot Custom Privateer. This one features manually retractable landing gear. It is a good sized model at 60" wingspan. The box lists "self Draining wing and hull" and "Shock mo...unted wing tip floats". The kit was engineered by Bill Effinger and wow! did those guys know how to pack a kit, it is full. There are two die-cut sheets that have come apart, some of the scrap is gone but it looks like the parts are all there. Look closely at the pictures of the radio installation. If you haven't flown or at least tried to fly with those early tube radios and escapements, well, just be glad you missed it! These airplanes are so graceful in flight soaring on those big long wings. One of the prettiest sights in all model aviation is seeing one of these majestic birds take off from glassy water into the morning sun with water droplets streaming off the hull. And then, the landings, you just gotta see for yourself.
