In the 1960s Aurora's Universal Movie Monsters were the best selling model kits in America. To extend the line in a comic direction Aurora put the monsters in hot rods. The kits did not sell very well and were soon discontinued. Thus they became rare collector's items--just what the new company Polar Lights wanted to bring back.
The original reissues of the Monstermobiles came out in 1996. Then these two kits were made in China in 1997 and packaged in square boxes. They were s...old only in K-Mart.
These kit boxes are not sealed in plastic, but the insides are just as they came from the factory. The Mummy's Chariot has a tree of glow-in-the-dark parts that can be substituted for the regular plastic parts. The kits have been in my air conditioned closet since 1997. In excellent condition.
