This listing is for a Daughters of the American Revolution Collectible Glass Bottle. This bottle is #8 in the series and entitled "Spying on the British". Please look closely at the photos to best determine condition. There are no chips, cracks or craze lines. You will notice some minor scuffing imperfections on the front of the bottle scene which are fairly consistent with age. Again, I would ask that you use the photo as a guide.
The DAR colonial bot...tle collection, manufactured by the FranklinMint in 1979 honoring the Daughters of the American Revolution, represents the 13 original states. This special set was issued tocommemorate the contributions of the colonial women in time of ourWar of Independence.
These bottles are in four authentic shapes used by glassmakersduring the American Colonial Period and are colored in ruby red, blue, amber, nut brown, evergreen and heather. Each of the detailedpictures on the fronts of the bottles portray a colonial lady in actof various labor such as caring for the sick and wounded, makinguniforms and flags, carrying alone the burden of farm and family, printing, spinning, making candles, providing food and supplies, cooking food for the troops & more. On the back of each bottle isa starburst with 13 stars. The bottles were hand molded and finelycrafted by American glassmakers of Franklin Crystal of PA. and couldbe purchased only by subscribers, one per month.
The DAR asthey are known, was founded in 1890, which was a time of patrioticrenewal.
Women from that time period wanted to honor the men andwomen who had served during the wars and felt they were shut out formmen's organizations that were organized to perpetuate the memory ofthose who had served. Therefore, they started up their own charterand have for over 100 years worked to maintain their pledge ofpreserving the history of those who served. Today, they work toeducate, preserve history, and instill patriotism in all. There areover 800, 000 members of the DAR.
