Here is a Lionel 38049 Norfolk & Western Class A 2-6-6-4 Locomotive and Tender. The first of these high speed powerhouses rolled out of the Roanoke Shops in 1936. The first of these high speed powerhouses rolled out of the Roanoke Shops in 1936. The N&W Class A articulated steam locomotives hauled mainline freight for over 20 years. The 2-6-6-4s could haul a 7000 ton train at 70 m.p.h. and produce 6300 horsepower. This TMCC-equipped locomotive includes features such as the RailSounds sound system, Odyssey System for speed control and a Wireless Tether connection between the locomotive and tender. The LionMaster Norfolk & Western Class A is designed for maximum performance on curves as tight as O-31.
