Vintage Lionel Transformer "Multi-Volt" No. 0100(90Watts, 2.5 amp dc, 3 amps ac). Condition is Used.Size. 5” x 4.5” x 4.5” On pack it says Purchased in 1959 and checked out in 1993 See picture 6 which shows small piece of tape on cord. I plugged it in and no problem but may need servicing Does not have original boxSee other trains listed on EBay
In many ways, 1959 was Lionel’s first year “on their own” in H0. Previously, the Lionel H0 lines had been either manufactured b...y Rivarossi or by Athearn. In 1959, many elements of the product line were in fact manufactured by Lionel. It was also the moment for Lionel to make a pitch to the “serious” model railroad community. Lionel did so with a catalog insert in the October, 1959 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman and the Fall 1959 issue of Model Trains.
While there were some toy aspects to Lionel’s 1959 product line, such as the 0805 radioactive waste car and the 0145 operating gateman, most of the locomotives and cars in the 1959 product range would be worthy of any serious model railroader’s layout of that era.
