Thisis a rare and little-known variety of the one penny woodblock, described by the RPS and BPA on certificates as the "major plateflaw". It shows as a missing chunk of colour in the rightcorner ornament.Idon't know how many of these occurred on the plate, nor how manycopies exist.If there was only one per sheet, as withthe colour errors, that would mean only989copies were printed.It is not mentioned in AlanStevenson's famous book on the triangles, which suggests that theyare veryr...areif he hadn't seen one.Theycertainly don't come up for sale often ; the last one on the markettomy knowledge wassold by me aslot 12 in the StockholmiaRarities auctionlast year.That one sold for 1400 euros;itwas abetterstamp, but thecurrentlisting hasa slightly larger flaw.
