Some information about this congost / Mattel collaboration. In the 70's Mattel decided to sell licenses for other companies to manufacture Barbies in countries that they did not sell. In approximately 1978 the company Mattel allowed a Spanish company, "Congost", to manufacture and distribute some of its most emblematic products. Among them was Barbie , a collaboration that would remain until approximately 1984 . Then it would be manufactured by "Mattel Spain" until 1990. In the manufacture, molds belonging to Mattel were used, but the finishes were different from those of the international prototype, showing differences in hair, makeup and clothes . Some models were also created that were distributed exclusively in Spain, as in the case of Barbie Top Model (1989) or Barbie 10º Anniversary in Spain (1987), or also a doll dressed by the Spanish designer "Pertegaz" . Currently, all these dolls have become the object of desire of collectors and their value has grown exponentially. Especially if they are NRFB , because they were manufactured very few of them and only for the Spanish market . This also happens with other Barbies manufactured in Latin America , by brands such as "Cipsa" in Mexico , "Estrela" in Brazil , "Rotoplast" in Venezuela , "Top Toys" in Argentina , "Plásticos Gloria" in Chile, and in the 80s and 90s by "Basa" in Peru.... A particularity that had the first Barbies manufactured by Congost in the late 70s and early 80's , is that they were sold dressed in outfits (not with a swimsuit)
