Antique Cast Iron Mechanical Bank – Alfred C. Rex 1889 – “Motor Bank”. Part of an inheritance, this bank has been in the family for many years. I have a letter that shows history of bank in family.
Full disclosure, I had this bank checked over by renowned mechanical bank repair person based in Baltimore. As you can see from the patent application drawing, this bank is missing the railing and decking on one side of the bank. The key to the bank is also missing and the bank is... not working. With repairs and restoration it can be returned to glory.
Dimensions are 6-3/4” length, 3” wide, 4” high. Weighs 2 lbs, 2 oz. Cast iron.
I understand there are 31 Motor Banks known to exist. This will be an amazing addition to any collection. Colors are original, it has not been altered.
