WW1 German Imperial Army Belt With Crown Gott Mit Uns Brass Buckle
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:340818 |
All original belt and buckle, both well worn so likely saw significant action. The buckle is brass with a gilt Imperial emblem, and the crown on the emblem is worn from handling I presume which probably indicates that the soldier was very dedicated to the Royals and likely rubbed the crown as a symbol of his loyalty or possibly for luck in battle. The belt has wear but is still solid. The blue copper sulfate deposits on the brass clip appear to be a reaction of wax fr...om the belt that was deposited on the clip. It is not corroded but I left the wax on as part of the history of the belt. The brass buckles and clips still have their original patina, have not been polished in a long time which can be very hard to find. The total length of the belt is 37 inches and it is currently at a waist dimension of about 33 inches.H16
