1. Fores's Comic Envelopes No.1 by John Leech. Very well illustrated and amusing, with red stamp of frame with letters and numbers inside. My reading of these is, top to bottom, "D. PAID. 18.SP.18 1840". Next to that is a green stamp "Chancery Lane/1p PAID". There are minor cracks and bruises (see photos for detail).
2. Mulready Postage On...e Penny by John Thompson with orange stamp and 2 postmarks, which seems to be 1841.This cover is more complete with seal and flaps, but is firmly stuck down. There is one small nibble at the top.
The card itself is the reverse side of an early French photograph of a Mrs.Godfrey Pearse.
