Please email any questions, and HAPPY BIDDING!For your consideration, this TRUE antique Late 1800s handmade patchwork FOLK-ART quilt in a very RARE old pattern called Cross and Crown.....this one is a real optical illusion, with Spinning/Lemoyne Stars at the center, and can also see a Dove at the Window pattern emerging -- this one is as FOLKY as they come.....where a thrown-together scrap quilt becomes ART! -- highly VISUAL, using lots of VIVID cinnamon pink, browns, greys, a little blue and some turkey red -- all old 100% cotton fabrics, including lots of early calicos and ticking materials -- nice straight edges, with nice curved corners -- VERY light-weight batting that is definitely 100% hand-combed cotton, and backed in a tiny black and white checked homespun ticking fabric -- the quilt measures 70" x 80", and was totally hand-pieced and hand-quilted following the pattern of the quilt around each little piece at 10-11 teeny stitches per inch -- the handwork in this quilt is EXQUISITE and very well-executed, done by a seamstress truly showing off her handwork skills.....while still maintaining a great FOLK-ART presence and personality -- in FAIR TO GOOD antique condition, for a quilt of its age -- does show wear/usage issues -- needs new binding, and there are several small shatters and blow-outs scattered over the interior of the quilt but most are also near the edges -- still fairly strong and sturdy -- colors CRISP and VIBRANT -- mostly CLEAN, with some light surface soil and a few small age spots/stains -- no other issues to report -- these old beauties are getting harder and harder to find, especially of this age -- all repair and cleaning issues will be left up to the new owner -- this quilt will work in any decor from country cottage/cabin/farmhouse to New York moderne-art loft -- laid across your bed, stacked in your quilt cabinet, or CELEBRATED by displaying on the wall as a great piece of TEXTILE ART! -- a true collector's piece....and the price is right!
