Preface: I am a self-confessed antique nut!!!!
When considering mine or others' prices, PONDER.....Is this worth a quarter, 50 cents or a dollar for every year it has survived? So this object that I may be offering, even at 50 cents/year would usually be worth more than my opening bid! Indeed, many antiques cost much more originally, adjusted for inflation. Not to mention most antiques appreciate in value! Just consider, my dear friends.

A Real Beauty!Barbotine EnglishDust Pressed Antique Victorian Tile
(6 inch X 6 inch standard size)
One of the nicest and well-handled barbotine* tiles I have ever seen. Beautiful composition and execution. *Barbotine is the French for ceramic slip, or a mixture of colored clay and water used for molding or decorating pottery. All hand-done! Quite a bit of work for one tile!! Excellent Condition!!! As noted in description it is only scan that makes this look flawed. If you find it is like pic with streaks I will refund & pay S&H: that's how good this is!!
A MUST HAVE EXAMPLE FOR YOUR COLLECTION!
You may be aware that the Nineteenth century was a "Golden Age" for tile making in England, as they invented and perfected the assembly line-type process of dust-pressing clay dust and printing designs. Previously, tiles were laboriously hand-painted individually on blanks. Later, colors WERE often but not always, added to these by hand after printing (So-called "print & tint"). Victorians loved the sanitary nature of tiles and the industry flourished, being produced in all manner of styles and designs. Hence, it is a fertile field for any new collector. HAVE FUN!!
