Taken from "Histoire generale des Voyages" published by Pierre de Hondt and engraved by Jacques Bellin
A fabulous map representing Europe and Northern Asia showing the routes of the explorers looking east. These include Marco Polo's trop to China, Jenkinson's route around Scandanavia to Moscow and the Silk route across Central Asia
Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 - 1772) was born in Paris. He was a hydrographer of France's hydrographic office, memeber of the Academie de Marine and of the Royal Society of London. Over a 50 year career, was a prolific cartographer. Baellin set a very high standard of workmanship and accuracy, thus gaining for France, a leading role in European Cartography and geography. Many of his maps were copied by other mapmakers of Europe.
An attractive copperplate engraved hand coloured map. Overall size approx 38cm x 28cm with large margins, perfect for mounting and framing.
CONDITION
Excellent condition with folds as issued.

Payment We prefer payment via PAYPAL. In some circumstances, we are able to accept a Cheque from UK Buyers, drawn on a UK Bank. We can also accept Cash Payment in UK Pounds Stirling, Euros or US Dollars, but payment by cash methods are sent at the risk of the buyer.
