Antique German Boudoir Half Doll Pin Cushion 1920 ' S Flapper Pierrette
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:34266857 | Original/Reproduction: Original |
Features: Boudoir Doll |
The doll is incised in the back "Germany" and some numbers of which only the first one is clearly visible as 5, and the following one is obscured by a pin cushion hole. This is a rare model, although I saw one like it with a different color scheme, and they said... the numbers were 5007. Again, I cannot see anything after the initial "5".
She is wearing a forest green top with three red buttons and a pair of dangle-type earrings which have not been painted a contrasting color, just sculpted, so please look carefully at the pictures.
For such a tiny doll her face is amazingly detailed and is masterfully done. There is some wear to the red paint of her bustiere buttons, and the very top of her head has lost its original glaze (please see pictures). This may be due to her previously wearing a hat - just a guess on my part. I am not sure since I only got her as a half-doll with nothing else attached.
The doll does not have any chips or cracks, but there is what seems to me a minor manufacturing defect on her back - it looks like a small relief ring, and there is a tiny smudge of green paint in the back of her left forearm, and a minuscule dark dot on her left hand. Otherwise she is in perfect condition.
Newley re-dressed in her character-fitting clothes made of 100% silk, she is free of stains or odors.
I will initial and date this doll at the bottom prior to shipping.
Comes from a non-smoking home in NC. No international shipping.
