This is a very nicely crafted, beautifully detailed dry sink by A. Schilling (I do not know the artisan's first name; if you do, please message me, as I like to include complete information). This piece is made of wood, with a really lovely grain, and a super smooth satin gloss finish. In the front of the base there are two working doors with very nice brass strap hinges and tiny brass pulls. Both doors open very smoothly to reveal a finished interior with two storage shelves. Above the ...doors there is a working drawer on the right with a tiny brass pull. The drawer opens smoothly to reveal it four beautiful utensil compartments. Above the drawer is the work surface. On the right is the wood counter; on the left is a depressed sink area, lined with shiny "tin." I cannot tell exactly what the tin is made of. I do not believe it is simply shiny paper; I think it is a very thin metal that conforms perfectly to the sink depression..Above the sink and counter top is a lovely back splash and a small shelf running the length of the back splash. The piece is signed and dated "A. Schilling 1983" on the bottom, with the following additional information, "#130." I suspect this is the 130th iteration of this dry sink that was made by Schilling, but I do not know for certain that that is what is meant.A gorgeous, well-crafted bit of period detail for any period kitchen.
