For your consideration is a finely crafted hammered copper and silver smoking set. Each piece is signed "The Turchin Co. Inc. N.Y." I have had many Turchin pieces over the decades and I suspect that the Turchin company contracted out their work to other firms. I'd estimate that 90% of their signed work was of Russian manufacture. A small percentage of their signed pieces are of american manufacture and this smoking set is one of them. Based on the high quality of the work, and in parti...cular the design of the lantern lighter, I attribute this set to the Gorham company.
The condition is very good with but some wear and blemishes to the original patina. There are no dents. The chain on the lantern lighter is detached from the lid. This set should have just one large cup. A few years ago I came across a matching stray cup so I bought it and added it to this set just to give it a good home. The tray measures 15 inches across the handles by 9 inches tall. The large cups are 3 and a quarter inches tall and the small cup is 2 inches tall. Thanks for your interest.
