Very Rare Figure of a Nymphenburg Italian Greyhound / WhippetOlder figure in all white (blanc de blanc) Very detailed, look at her eyes, collar, backbone, ears, delicate tail, toes & nails Model 759 This figure is fairly rare as it is usually found sharing a base with a larger Whippet (Whippet Group)This dog stands alone on her own baseCondition is excellent w/no chips, cracks or crazingThe dog measures approximately 4" wide x 3 1/8" tall not including the ...base Signed on top of the base P.J. Mene (Pierre-Jules Mêne 1810 – 1879 was a French sculptor and animalier. He is considered one of the pioneers of animal sculpture in the nineteenth century. Mene loaned his molds to only a few German porcelain factories where most of the porcelains were cast in white which was meant to be the opposite of the bronze used by the artist himself. Mene, unlike most other artists of the day, cast most of his bronzes himself rather than use a foundry).Made in Germany using the artists original moldsThe inscribed Nymphenburg Shield Mark is clearly displayed on top of the baseOn the bottom of the base there are stamped numbers & hand incised numbers. The 7 & 9 are incised & the 5 is stamped between them & above them.
