Duvivier, bare head bust of Louis XVI with hair tied back profile right, LOUIS XVI ROI DES FRANCOIS/ VILLE DE PARIS, rev. female figure leads Louis and his family into Paris, ARRIVE DU ROI A PARIS/ LE 6 OCT 1789, 53 mm, (BDM. 1/686). A few marks, otherwise good very fine. The King and his family were forced back to Paris following the bread riots ...and from this point the power of the King was undermined by the Third Estate and the revolutionary forces which were increasingly at work.Medal is roughly 2 1/16” in diameter.
