Vintage Japanese Pottery Plate
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this vintage Japanese pottery plate or shallow bowl. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This Mashiko piece has interesting glazed decoration over its simple form. The front side has black and microcrystalline tenmoku brown glazes; two pomegranates are depicted against a central blue background. The back side is beige, with contrasting glaze near the edges. It weighs ...2 pounds 3.3 ounces, unpacked. It is approximately 1 3/4 inches tall, with a maximum diameter of about 11 inches. This would be a fine addition to a collection of Japanese studio ceramics.
Identification
This piece is marked beneath with a small, impressed marking which is oval in shape, with character marks inside. It is attributed to the Tsukamoto kiln, one of the best known Mashiko kilns of Tochigi Prefecture near Togei Mura, Japan. It is vintage, but its exact age is not known.
Condition
This piece looks very good overall, with fine, unstained crazing, and no chips or cracks. It has minor wear overall, with some scuffs and fine scratches. Variations in the glazing are as made. As made, there are some scattered, pinprick glaze bubbles, and there is a small glaze skip to the back side. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding or buying.

1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Contact the seller before bidding or buying to find out about acceptable payment methods for local pickups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller's choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller's discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
