Rolex Submariner Red 1680

The highly prized and collectable Rolex submariner "red" 1680.The 1680 was the first submariner to have the date window added. Because of this date feature, the movement was modified to the Caliber 1575 (which was the Caliber 1570 only with the new date movement added).This sub red is a circa 1973.The 1680 has a high dome plexiglass, which gives it a great look. This one has the 93150 bracelet with 580 open end links. The bracelet was changed in 1999 ( code X11 on the clasp) and comes ...with the diver's extension.The date disc has the "open" 6 & 9 dates. The dial is the MkVI dial, which was the last of the submariner red dials. The bezel, I'm told, is not original and was replaced at some stage of it's life. It looks like the MK3 "fat" font bezel insert. But I have to say,   I'm not sure of this as the info on the net is pretty debatable.I bought this watch from a very reputable dealer in South Africa and it was serviced by them with a 12 month warranty.Unfortunately the watch has no papers (it's 47 years old!).
