Omega Marine Chronometer - Most Accurate Wristwatch Ever Made.
This is the OMEGA 2400 MHz Marine Chronometer - the only wristwatch to ever be awarded the title of Marine Chronometer.The stainless steel watch case was cut from a single piece of steel. The face features a 14k gold surround. Plus the registered number of the movement shows at the bottom, also in 14K gold (see photos) I am including the original results of the accuracy tests establish...ing that this watch is certified as a "Marine Chronometer:" Certification issued by the prestigious University of Besancon, in France. Besancon is the watch making capital of France. They certified this watch for the Omega CompanyJust a few days ago I had this watch professionally cleaned and polished so it looks close to new, even though it is over 50 years old. And I had a new battery installed. This watch does have one flaw. There are no more parts to be had for repairs and the waterproof seal is missing so the watch cannot be used under or around water. With some luck you might find a watch repair person who has or can locate a seal. If you are a collector this is the watch for you. It is rare, in excellent (used) condition, beautiful and extremely accurate. And because it's authenticity is affirmed by the University of Besancon. it should, over time, increase in value. It may not, but over the past 50 years it certainly has. Why am I selling? I am about to move to a part of the world where this watch would be very difficult to service and ship from.
