Description:Rolex Bubblebacks are hard enough as it is to find as many owners tend to just keep/store them away for eternities to maintain their value or shape. This particular piece has a lovely gradient patina on the dial, albeit with a few scuffs on the plastic domed crystal (easily buffed out), but is otherwise in its original unmolested form (no dings, major scratches, or polishing). This piece, like with many other collectors, was purchased and kept by my father, for a while, in storage unit. He being a larger fellow, tends now more to larger pieces, and I am therefore selling this on his behalf. The reason that this piece is so rare is that, upon purchase, papers were also provided from the original owner of the watch, making it ever so valuable as collector's pine to have pieces as close to full set as possible nowadays (myself included). The case bezel and case itself is sharp without any metal wear over the years making it a perfect collector's piece. The unidirectional rotor inside is free moving and the crown (unlike many other bubblebacks) is easily screwed down and unscrewed (threads are pristine). Hands are freely moving as well to easily set and reset the time. Due to my own inexperience with these pieces, I have not attempted to wind the piece (Im afraid I may overwind it or damage it in some form or fashion) and am selling as a "preowned" piece. It will, however, require servicing. That being the case, I've lowered the price tremendously in order for a quick sale on it, so as to take into account the amount of money the future owner will have to input to make sure it functions as brand new. I have, however, taken it to a local watchmaker who has assured me all parts are original and there are no mechanical errors, but just a buildup of gunk and dust over the years. So it needs more of a cleaning than anything else. If you are unaware of whom to call, as Bubbleback parts are very much in demand with minimal supply, I am more than willing to give you details of people who I ask to service my pieces (who, I might add, I have double checked with and have all parts necessary to provide a full service to the 2940).
