This i...s the Liberty Head Variety from the time of before the Civil War dated 1856-SThis is a better date S Mint Gold Half Eagle with a lower mintage of 104, 100 pieces.Much tougher date, only one other one on eBay for sale at the time I listed it, an AU55 CAC Certified for over $2, 000.This one is graded and encapsulated by NGC as XF45 Extremely Fine 45Please compare the obverse and reverse details of my coin to the AU55 listed on ebay. Also, go to PCGS website and look at their Photograde for the Gold Half Eagles and then look at my coin. Mine looks nicer than the AU50 and more like the AU53 than the XF45 assigned grade. Don't take my word for it, please go to Photograde and see for yourself.Compare the hair and hair curls on the obverse and the eagles neck, claws and the shield on the reverse to the Photograde pictures. Worthy of a crossover shot to PCGS as an upgrade to an AU50 or AU53 (PCGS value of $1, 600) is a significant boost in value to this coin. The coin pictured is the one that you are buying.
