1839 " No Drapery " Seated Liberty Half Dollar - - MEGA - RARE VINTAGE COIN
Item History & Price
For sale is an extremely rare 1839 "No Drapery" Seated Liberty Silver Half Dollars. The Seated Liberty Half Dollars were minted 1839 to 1891 and it was a very popular design being the obverse of the half dime all the way up to the dollar. The "No Drapery" was a rare variety of the 1839 Seated Half where Lady Liberty's robe, or "drapery" as they referred to it, was not visible at her left elbow. It was believed that a tiny number of "No Drapery" coins were minted making them incredibly ...rare and valuable. Of the few coins available on ebay you will have a hard time finding any under $ 400.00! And like all Seated Liberty Halves, this coin is 90% silver.
As you can see from the pics the coin is in very nice shape, and it would grade at a high VG grade, very close to being F. The date, stars, and all lettering are nice and bold. The majority of the letters in LIBERTY are present which is usually the first thing to wear down on Seated Halves. The coin has a nice ash patina to it, and it has no major toning, no damage, and it has not been cleaned.
This is a great rare coin to add to any rare collection. Thanks!
