Vintage Omega Seamaster Chronometer Serviced Cal 352 RG SS Case 2577 Automatic
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:35248841 | Brand: OMEGA |
Display: Analog | Model: Omega Seamaster |
Department: Men | Type: Wristwatch |
Features: Chronometer |
Age: 12.4 million serial number dates it to about 1950.
Case: Original 34mm stainless steel case in very good, original condition. Case has very minor signs of wear throughout, but it appears to have the original factory finish. Flat polished finish bezel and lugs, with horizontal brushed case sides. Note how crisp all of the edges and lines are - this piece has seen very little polishing in its life.... Crystal is potentially original (not all factory Omega crystals from this era had the emblem in the center) and in decent shape, there are a couple marks near 2:00. Original signed "button" crown. Screw down caseback with no serious tool marks - it has a circular brushed finish in the center although it appears to have been polished at some point. Inside of caseback is stamped ref. 2577.
Dial: Dial is an original Omega Seamaster chronometer dial in fair condition. This watch has AN original dial but it isn't original to this watch - it had a badly refinished dial when I first got it, which I've replaced with this dial which is an un-refinished, original, correct dial for a cal. 352 Seamaster. As pictured it has a scratch through the Seamaster lettering and the small marks on the dial near the 3:00 position, and some very slight oxidation around the 12:00 marker, but it is completely original. Note the rounded emblem and serif lettering, nice printed chapter ring and dual zone dial with faceted gold markers. Faceted dauphine hands and blued seconds hand.
Movement: Original Omega Cal. 352 automatic chronometer movement in serviced, great running condition. See the pics for more details for condition - it has some staining around the edge, although it is only an aesthetic issue. Note the RG regulator and "luxe" finish ratchet wheel among the other features of what was Omega's premier movement at the time. It was serviced in May 2020 by JorMar Watchmaker Co in McAllen, TX. Included is the service receipt with the serial number for having the movement overhauled.
Band: This piece is mounted on a vintage black 18mm leather with an Omega clasp as it was found which is presumably the original to the watch - it looks to be period correct and like those commonly seen on untouched pieces.
Remarks: Chronometer Seamasters are rare in their own right, though the cal 352 RG variants are even more so; this movement was only produced for a short time before being replaced by the more commonly seen cal 354 chronometer movements.
