GOOD, RARE ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER CONSULAR CASED VERGE POCKET WATCH Jn HARVEY c1781 A good, antique, George IV, gentleman's sterling silver, consular cased, verge fusee Pocket Watch by John Harvey of Weymouth.
This watch is a good example, in nice condition, however not currently in perfect working order. It runs a short while but stops, therefore selling as in need of service/repair.
The English made, sterl...ing silver case is in good condition, however there are some minor indents to the rear. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The case maker's mark "ID" for John Dyer, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head Crowned London town mark and the date letter "f" for 1821/22. The white enamel dial is in good condition for it's age, although there is a small area of restoration near the winding square. It has the hours in Roman numerals.
The good quality verge movement is signed "Jn Harvey, Weymouth" and has the serial number 40165.
The watch measures 53mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
Overall, this is a reasonably good example, a chance to add a Georgian watch to your collection.
