I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York. (See cut song below.) ........ This is a rare February 4th, 1952 "Playgoer" playbill from the one-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the RALPH BLANE, CHARLES O'NEAL and ABE BURROWS musical "THREE WISHES FOR JAMIE"&nbs...p;at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production would open March 21st, 1952 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York City and run for only 91 performances.) ..... The musical starred JOHN RAITT and ANNE JEFFREYS and featured BERT WHEELER, ROBERT HALLIDAY, MALCOLM KEEN, JEFF MORROW, RALPH MORGAN, PETER CONLOW, CHARLOTTE RAE and ROYAL DANO ..... CREDITS: Music and Lyrics by RALPH BLANE ("Meet Me in St. Louis", "Three Wishes For Jamie", "Best Foot Forward"); Book by CHARLES O'NEAL and ABE BURROWS ("Guys and Dolls", "Three Wishes For Jamie", "Can-Can", "Silk Stockings", "Say, Darling", "First Impressions", "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying") based on the novel "The Three Wishes of Jamie McRuin" by CHARLES O'NEAL; Sets designed by GEORGE JENKINS; Costumes designed by MILES WHITE; Choreographed by EUGENE LORING and TED CAPPY; Directed by ABE BURROWS; Produced by ALBERT LEWIS and ARTHUR LEWIS ..... DETAILS: The 40 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos ..... CUT SONG: The list of musical numbers includes "'Tis a Wonderful Thing in Nature" which was cut out-of-town ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
