Antique/Vintage Wood Handle NICHOLSON Awl/ 2 SMALL Flathead Screwdrivers. While I have many files by Nicholson I have never seen a Nicholson three sided awl. The hardwood handle has NICHOLSON FILE CO U.S. and the word PATENTED. Then there is another word but my old eyes will not work but it looks like it starts with SPUN. The awl is 5.5 inches long and the handle is 4 inches and the sharply pointed blade is 1.5 inches. It seems to be firm with no wobble or corrosion. The me...tal guard/Ferrell is tarnished brass. I am not sure of the type of wood but maybe Maple? I really looked at online catalogs from 1911 on up to 1959 and could not find this item so I feel it is unique. The miniature 3.75 inch flat head screwdriver has a dirty Mahogany hardwood handle with a brass Ferrell.The blade is about 2 1/8 inches long. The blade seems firmly fastened with no wobble or looseness.There are no nicks, cracks, or rounding of the tip. The guard or Ferrell is loose and I could tighten it but I feel I should tell the buyer. The tiny slot screwdriver is 2 7/8 inches total length and the blade is about 1 1/18 inches. It has a turned hardwood handle and a brass Ferrell. The blade is firmly attached. Although it too big for repairing a watch but it is great to get in those hard to reach places. These tools are old but not like a new plastic screwdriver that crumbles the first time it is used. All of these tools will last a lifetime if used properly. Nicholson made quality tools and the awl is a fine example. I believe all these are nice collector items or just to use.
