We understand this shape is called Boston swirl.Roman numerals appear on the back of these pieces, in this case XXIX.... We have learned from another eBay member that these are dating codes to determine when the pieces were made. The Roman numeral is added to the year 1937 to reveal the year of manufacturer, in this case 1966.Thecompany used the swirled Boston blank for this pattern, as well as anothershape called Ely Chelsea.
