Made at the Cauldon Place Works by Brown, Westhead & Moore (later Cauldon), at Shelton, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, in the late 19th century, are these stunning dinner plates. They are decorated with a stunning and detailed Imari or 'Japan' style pattern featuring a rich cobalt blue, and with blooming peony and foliage, then 'clobbered' or hand enameled over the glaze with gilt and russet.
Each measures 10.25" in diameter.
Impressed on the back with an English reg...istration mark, the stamp of Brown, Westhead & Moore and the pattern number, H 1879, as well as various painter's and gilder's marks.
Both are in very good condition, without an damage or wear.
