Comprising 248 printed pages of Chinese script on folded leaves, each page with illustrative headpiece and thirteen columns of traditional Chinese characters.
We do not read Chinese, any advice or information on the book would be welcomed.
8vo, bound in 19th century blindruled calf by Clarke & Bedford, gilt inner dentelles, spine gilt lettered direct reading 'Chinese Printed Book', upper and lower page edges gilt. Brown endpapers period with the binding.The book measures 15cm by 24.5cm.

FOR SALE WITHOUT RESERVE.Please View My Other Items For SaleCondition: The binding is holding firmly and is in good condition, with some general wear to surface / extremities from handling, spine and edges rubbed, short split at head of upper hinge and slight chipping to head cap, a few spots / stains and marks to the boards. Text block is firm and conents in good condition, uniformly browned, neat tissue repair to lower margin of final leaf, initial leaf with holes to gutter margin and restoration to lower edge, one further leaf with large portion torn from top inside corner on verso and with neat repair, a few other smaller repairs noted here and there also. Cluster of worm toward top inside edge of the entire block, largely marginal but also encroaching into printed area at numerous points, a few other traces running through fore or lower edges intermittently. A 19th C ink inscription at the head of the first leaf which appears to have been crossed through.
